CMA LAW: The Capital Markets Authority Announces Filing a Report with the Prosecutor General Regarding the Occurrence of a Crime

The Capital Markets Authority announces filing a report with the Prosecutor General on 22/07/2026 regarding the occurrence of the crime stipulated in Article (209) of Law No. 16 of 1960 on the issuance of the Penal Law, the crime stipulated in Article (70) of Law No. (37) of 2014 regarding the establishment of The Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority, and the crime stipulated in Item No. (5) of Article (21) of Law No. 3 of 2006 regarding Press and Publication, criminalized by the provision of Article (6) of Law No. 63 of 2015 Regarding Combating Cyber Crimes the (“Cybercrime Law”). The defendant published a tweet on the social media platform (X) (TWITTER formerly), which negatively impacts CMA’s reputation and undermines its role and legal jurisdiction, and undermines confidence in the country’s economic situation.
