CMA LAW: Press Release: The Capital Markets Authority Welcomes the Delegation of (SHIFT) Program of the National Investments Company

Kuwait, May 5, 2026 – The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) has welcomed this morning a delegation of participants in (SHIFT) program, organized by National Investments Company, as part of the CMA’s ongoing efforts to support national initiatives that aim to qualify the young cadres and enhance their professional readiness to engage in the financial and investment sector.

During this visit, the CMA prepared an integrated program which included a comprehensive presentation on the CMA’s role and competences, its most prominent regulatory and supervisory functions in the supervision of the capital markets activities, and a highlight on its role in enhancing transparency, strengthening confidence, and protecting investors rights, in participation of CMA’s various sectors to demonstrate its roles in supporting the corporate work system. the presentation included an overview of the competences and tasks of the CMA’s departments and their role in executing the regulatory and supervisory tasks.

The visit witnessed a productive interaction by the participants, as they had the opportunity to view the CMA’s practical aspects of work and understand the institutional work environment and its requirements, which contributes to building a clear concept on the professional pathways in the regulatory and supervisory sector, the necessary skills for working in such field, and enhancing their association with the national entities concerned with this vital sector.

This visit reflects the CMA’s commitment to its societal role in promoting financial knowledge, supporting training initiatives, and enhancing communication with educational and training institutions, in order to comply with its directives towards investment in the human capital. At the same time, it is part of the CMA’s ongoing efforts in supporting the national cadres and providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to keep pace with the rapid developments in the capital markets.

The visit concluded with an interactive panel discussion in which opinions were exchanged and the participants’ enquiries were answered, which strengthens the value of experience and achieves its required objectives.

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Kuwait was established pursuant to Law No. 7 of 2010 Regarding the Establishment of the Capital Markets Authority and Regulating Securities Activities, and its amendments, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010. Under this Law, the CMA regulates and supervises securities activities, ensures transparency, fairness, efficiency, and observes listed companies’ implementation of Corporate Governance regulations. The CMA also protects investors from unfair practices and violations of the CMA's Law.

Furthermore, the Law stipulates the supervision of mergers, acquisitions, and disclosure operations. The CMA also aims to provide awareness programs pertaining to securities activities.
