Title: The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) Holds its 3rd Awareness Workshop
Kuwait, 3rd February 2015 – As part of the CMA's awareness workshops program of the first quarter of 2015, it held the 3rd workshop on Tuesday 3/2/2015. The workshop tackled the topic of "CMA's Regulations Regarding the Permitted Trading Proportion for the Controller of a Company Listed in the Securities Exchange".
The workshop was held in Khaled Al-Kharafi Hall at the Kuwait Stock Exchange at 12:30 PM. The aspects discussed were as follows:
- The general provisions and definitions.
- The Permitted Purchase Proportion for the Controller.
- The Permitted Sale Proportion for the Controller.
- The frequently asked questions related to the workshop's topic.
- The implementation.
Additionally, the Director of the Merger & Acquisition Department at the CMA discussed other related issues such as the reasons of regulating the Controller's trading, the scope of applying the CMA's Regulations, and the definition of the Controller. The speaker also reviewed the approved forms and the related disclosure provisions, its mechanisms and its procedures.
Clarification to Editors:
The Capital Markets Authority was established pursuant to Law No. 7/2010, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010, and amended by Law No. 108/2014. Pursuant to the Law, the Authority shall regulate and supervise the securities activities, achieve transparency and fairness, oblige the listed companies to execute the Corporate Governance Principles, and protect the investors from the unfair practices which violate the Authority's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of the merger, acquisition, and disclosure operations. The Authority also aims at providing awareness programmes related to securities activities.
