CMA LAW: Press Release Regarding Amendment to Some Provisions of Module Fifteen (Corporate Governance) of the Executive Bylaws of Law No.7 of 2010 Regarding the Establishment of the Capital Markets Authority and Regulating Securities Activities, and their amendments

Kuwait, May 6, 2026 – Within the framework of the Capital Markets Authority’s (CMA) efforts in developing the regulatory environment of the capital market in the State of Kuwait and in implementation of its strategic plans, the CMA has issued on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Resolution No. (56) of 2026. The amendments and additions resulted from persistent follow-up of the international practices of sound governance principles as well as the practical practices of all concerned entities addressed by the provisions of Module Fifteen (Corporate Governance) of the Executive Bylaws of Law No.7 of 2010 Regarding the Establishment of the Capital Markets Authority and Regulating Securities Activities, and their amendments. The development process aimed to achieve the regulatory and supervisory clarity and inclusion in matters questioned by the companies subject to those provisions during the period that preceded the issuance of the Executive Bylaws of the CMA’s Law after 2015.

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Kuwait was established pursuant to Law No. 7 of 2010 Regarding the Establishment of the Capital Markets Authority and Regulating Securities Activities, and its amendments, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010. Under this Law, the CMA regulates and supervises securities activities, ensures transparency, fairness, efficiency, and observes listed companies’ implementation of Corporate Governance regulations. The CMA also protects investors from unfair practices and violations of the CMA's Law.
Furthermore, the Law stipulates the supervision of mergers, acquisitions, and disclosure operations. The CMA also aims to provide awareness programs pertaining to securities activities.
