Title: CMA Announces its Awareness Program for December 2018

Kuwait City, December 3, 2018 - The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) will start on Wednesday December 5 2018 the activities of its last awareness program for the current year, which will include three awareness workshops, all of which will be held at Khalid Al Kharafi Hall at Boursa Kuwait building at 1:00pm on the dates specified in the attached table.
The first workshop will discuss the topic of “definition of securities activities”, discuss their various classifications and determine their respective scope to discuss the tasks covered by each of these activities.
The second event of the program includes an awareness workshop to be held on December 18 and it will address the subject of "Requirements and obligations of the licensed person in terms of positions which require registration" and more specifically aspects related to the prohibition of combining two positions of certain positions to be registered, as well as to clarify the functions of senior executives.
The third and final event of the program will be held on December 24 and will discuss the concept of CCP as a component of the financial markets development plan by introducing the financial infrastructure institutions and their principles and their relationship with the CCP, as well as the form of the final post- trading system in Kuwait.
The Capital Markets Authority announces the activities of its last awareness program for the current year. It invites all those concerned and any entities interested in the securities activities to participate in the program. It hopes to have an active participation that enriches its discussions and contributes to its success in achieving its objectives. CMA would like to note that it is preparing for future awareness programs for all concerned and interested parties in securities activities which will be announced at a later date.

The Capital Markets Authority was established pursuant to Law No. 7/2010, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010. Pursuant to the Law, the CMA shall regulate and supervise the securities activities, achieve transparency and fairness, observe listed companies’ execution of Corporate Governance regulations, and protect investors from unfair practices which violate the CMA's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of mergers, acquisitions, and disclosure operations. The CMA also aims to provide awareness programs related to securities activities.
