CMA LAW: The Capital Markets Authority Announces Reporting Suspected Crime to the Attorney General

The Capital Markets Authority announces submitting a report to the Attorney General on 31/08/2023 regarding the suspicious occurrence of the crime stipulated in Article (125) of Law No. 7 of 2010 Regarding the Establishment of the Capital Markets Authority and Regulating Securities Activities and its amendments. The defendant (electronic newspaper licensed by the Ministry of Information) published (4) news releases on its front page which included the offence criminalized by the aforementioned Article in the issues (751, 753, 755, 757) dated August 22, 24, 27, and 29, 2023. They included information contrary to the truth and claimed that the CMA has taken procedures that it has not actually taken, which undermines the confidence of CMA’s supervisory role that regulates securities activities and misleads the public investors and those subject to its supervision.
