Title: The Capital Markets Authority Participates in a Virtual Seminar on Financial Technology (FinTech)
Kuwait, March 24, 2021 – The Capital Markets Authority (CMA), represented by Mr. Othman Al-Issa – Vice Chairman and Acting Managing Director, participated in a virtual seminar organized by Paris EuroPlace on Tuesday March 23, 2021 being. This participation was supported by the French Embassy in Kuwait to discuss the topic of financial technology. Several French companies have presented their work and proposals regarding the application of financial technology in the business field.
The CMA’s participation is a continuation of the memorandum of understanding that it has signed with Paris EuroPlace in October 2019 to develop cooperation in the digital transformation, exchange experiences, support the sustainable finance, participate in organizing seminars and conferences, and facilitate the exchange of information.
The participants of the Seminar included the CMA, Her Excellency the French Ambassador in Kuwait Mrs. Anne-Claire Legendre, and several French and Kuwaiti Companies and corporations. It is worth noting that Paris EuroPlace is a non-profit corporation and is concerned with the development and promotion of Paris as an international financial center.

The Capital Markets Authority was established pursuant to Law No. 7/2010, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010. Pursuant to the Law, the CMA shall regulate and supervise the securities activities, achieve transparency and fairness, observe listed companies’ execution of Corporate Governance regulations, and protect investors from unfair practices which violate the CMA's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of mergers, acquisitions, and disclosure operations. The CMA also aims to provide awareness programs related to securities activities.
